MEMBERS ONLY! Research for Dummies: Translating Scientific Findings for Policy Audiences

American Public Health Association
800 I Street NW, Main Conference Room

Featuring: Adrianna McIntyre, MPP, MPH (@onceuponA)
Managing Editor, The Incidental Economist and PhD Student, Harvard University (Formerly David A. Winston Health Policy Fellow, Office of Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi)

Advocates are often called upon to translate scientific findings to policymakers, staff, and reporters. But what if you don't know what a "p value" is? Or what the strengths and limitations of a double blind trail are? How do you know if the findings are generalizable? Or what the difference between correlation and causation is? What you if "dumb it down" TOO much, to the point of not being accurate?

Master translator Adrianna McIntyre will facilitate this workshop to help you understand what you need to know about research, and how to talk about it.

This is a members-only event. It's ideal for novice and seasoned GR and communications professionals, alike. More than one person per organization welcome.
