Public Health at Home

Federal investments in the public health continuum—in partnership with state and local governments and the nonprofit and private sectors—are transforming people’s lives in homes, schools, offices, and communities across the nation every day.

Did you know…

  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention distributes nearly three-quarters of its budget to states and communities to support prevention and preparedness efforts that improve and preserve health?
  • The National Institutes of Health is the largest supporter of research in the world, supporting more than 325,000 scientists who are discovering cures and saving lives at 3,000 research institutions and small businesses across our nation’s 50 states?
  • Through $1.3 billion to students, practitioners, and institutions nationwide, the Health Resources and Services Administration helps recruit, educate, and prepare the next generation of primary care doctors, dentists, nurses, physician assistants, and other health professionals to practice where they are needed most?
